History

Coolrec was founded in 1991 for recycling refrigerators in the Netherlands, at the time as part of Van Gansewinkel and after the merger with Shanks part of Renewi plc. Throughout the years, with more then 30 years’ experience, Coolrec Group has engineered and continuously improved its own processes. Coolrec Nederland BV is fully owned by Coolrec / Renewi. In other countries, Coolrec Group creates partnerships with local partners: in Belgium Recydel SA is founded with local enterprises Intradel SCRL (10% share) and Spaque SA (10 % share) as shareholders; in France Coolrec France SAS is founded with local enterprise Vitamine T SAS (10% share) as shareholder.

Coolrec Plastics BV is fully owned by Coolrec / Renewi, with 55.000 tonnes treatment capacity, one of the biggest recycling plants for WEEE plastics in Europe. In Waalwijk, the Netherlands the group operates the biggest line in the world that is dedicated to fridge plastics.
