Durable quality – environmentally friendly design

Wiltopia is the first product range from PLAYMOBIL to be made from an average of over 80 percent sustainable material. PCR plastics – i.e. plastics which have already been used by consumers and then fed back into the recycling loop – as well as bio-based plastics are used. This conserves virgin resources and, above all, protects the environment by giving used materials a second life. All new items in the Wiltopia range naturally meet PLAYMOBIL’s proven quality standards.

From old fridges to new PLAYMOBIL sets

But how does that work exactly? PLAYMOBIL and recycling specialist Coolrec, a Renewi subsidiary, have produced a video to answer this. In a child-friendly way, it shows how the Wiltopia articles are made from the recycled plastics that Coolrec obtains from discarded refrigerators. Pretty cool and very good for the planet! In the spirit of a true transition towards a circular economy, materials that are no longer needed in the discarded refrigerators are liberated for a second life. The remaining plastics from the refrigerators are then shredded and processed into flakes. After advanced mechanical recycling techniques the flakes are turned into Coolrec granulate, which can be used to make just about anything! Like all the animals and playsets in the new PLAYMOBIL Wiltopia range and much, much more!

Animal play and collecting fun

Wiltopia is all about growing up in a world where animals and nature are respected and protected. Imparting knowledge is vital for this – children can only value, love and protect what they know. Starting from July, 27 sets with animals from all over the world will provide lots of collecting and playing fun, combined with an extra helping of knowledge. In addition to the movable animal figures, each animal set contains accessories to immediately open up creative role-play, as well as a collectible animal card with exciting facts about that animal species. The QR code on the collectible card leads to more content in the web app – not only is there an audio clip with child-friendly information on their favourite animal, but also the option to project the animal directly into their home via the AR feature. Who hasn’t always wanted a selfie with a giraffe?
