Advanced recycling to individual specifications

Coolrec was recently involved in a pioneering project for creating a closed-loop recycling system for plastics within a single manufacturing organisation. We call this project SHREK.
The flow of polypropylene plastic is derived from waste consisting of small electrical appliances. The recycled plastic is used to make new parts for a coffee pod machine.
The manufacturer set two specific targets: the recycled material had to be of the same quality as the ‘virgin’ material. And the production costs of the recycling process had to be the same or lower than existing costs.
We more than satisfied these requirements, as demonstrated by an extensive preproduction run.
