Waste no more

Our strategy focuses on further recycling optimisation. We are convinced that responding to the basic underlying demand for raw materials and energy will power our organisation’s growth. ‘Waste no more’ that is our credo. We truly see our future in the continued development of our knowledge of production processes and materials, and preventing the generation of waste.

Cradle-to-Cradle: waste is a nutrient
The Cradle-to-Cradle concept dictates that products should be manufactured in such a way that they can be reused at the end of their lifecycle or broken down into raw materials to make new, comparable or better products. This leads to infinite product cycles without creating waste in the form of ‘unusable by-products’. Waste is after all a valuable raw material for new processes: ‘waste is a nutrient’.

CO2 and waste
Clever recycling of residual products to create new raw materials almost always leads to reduced CO2 emissions. In most cases, recovering materials such as plastic requires less energy than their incineration and harvesting and processing new primary raw materials. In addition, waste separation often leads to cost economies as valuable raw materials are retained.

Cradle-to-Cradle and CO2
We consider reducing our customers' and partners' consumption of raw materials to be our main contribution to a sustainable society. This approach fits perfectly with Van Gansewinkel Groep’s competitive differentiation strategy of developing close collaborative relationships with customers and partners. An intimate knowledge of each other’s processes is essential to the development and optimisation of closed-loop recycling systems. By preventing waste from being simply thrown away, we effectively create solutions for raw material scarcity and the CO2 problem.
