Our strategic vision on raw materials, energy and waste management is closely aligned to the Cradle-to-Cradle (C2C) philosophy. The basis of this concept is that products should be manufactured in such a way that they can be reused at the end of their lifecycle or broken down into raw materials to make new, comparable or better products. This leads to infinite product cycles without creating waste in the form of ‘unusable by-products’.
Currently, Coolrec processes approximately 1 million refrigerators, 1 million televisions and 30,000 tonnes of electrical and electronic appliances annually. The yield is enough steel for more than 50,000 new passenger cars.
Furthermore, we prevent the release of 300,000 kg of harmful gaseous propellants (including CFCs) into the environment. That is equivalent to approximately 1.2 mega tonnes of CO2 emissions.
Scarcity of raw materials
